Maximize Your Prosper Learning Experience

The Prosper eCommerce program is about the same difficulty level as a graduate level university course. As such, you must use solid methods to absorb the material that your coach teaches you. Within this post I provide three tips to maximize your learning.

Tip #1 – Read, Listen, Do

Your coach will provide you with instruction on how to do various eCommerce aspects; however, to truly absorb the material you need to reinforce your coaching sessions through additional material. You may do this best by engaging your various senses through your eyes, ears, hands.

Read

Reinforce what you have learned from your coach by reading the relevant modules in the Course Curriculum, the Prosper eCommerce blog, and eCommerce articles archived in the Success Center. You can also do a Google search for additional information and read material that you find – wikipedia.org and about.com are particularly useful for finding material.

Listen

Each Tuesday evening Prosper eCommerce does a group conference call. If you can attend this live, please do so, but if you can not, then you may access the archived session in the Success Center by going to “Coaching Resources”, “Group Coaching Sessions”, and then scrolling down to find the archived sessions.

Do

Once you have reinforced what you have learned through reading and listening, actually sit down and do what you have learned. Recognize that your first attempt will likely be a failure, particularly with technical issues. Your second attempt may also be a failure. Your third attempt may also be a failure. But, if you keep at it and do not give up, you will likely eventually succeed.

Tip #2 – Call the Resource Line without Hesitation

When you have a question of a technical nature, do not wait until your next coaching session. Instead, get the question answered while it is fresh in your mind. The Resource Line is staffed by qualified eCommerce coaches, and, when you call, the person you speak to will try to answer any eCommerce questions that you have. If s/he can not, then s/he will ask one of the other Resource Advisors to assist you, or will ask you to call back and ask for a specific person. Remember that the only dumb question is the one that is not asked. As such, if you have even the tiniest question, pick up the phone and call the Resource Line at 1.800.743.9833 (Choose Option 4, then Option 2). You should be calling the Resource Line at least once per week, and, if you are in the phase of building your website, about four to five times per week.

Tip #3 – Sleep Well

Before I started doing eCommerce, I spent many years instructing university students how to perform well on difficult tests such as the law school, graduate school, and business school admission tests. I often told them to sleep, sleep, and sleep because doing so would allow their brains to work at peak performance. Prosper eCommerce clients should do the same. Establish a regular sleep schedule and stick to it so that your brain works well during those long sessions crafting your business.

    Great article Michael

I love the comment about technical issues, I”m going through that phase,
It may be a bit frustrating, specially because the hours that I was working I had no access to the Resource Line.
    What did I do?
I switch to another job, working the weekends so I have a couple of days avail
    to contact the Resource Line.

I also loved the comment about sleep, people is more creative when your mind is relaxed, & rested. I’ll be here often.

We were surprised to learn that this course has about the same difficulty as a graduate level university course because even though we are on a steep learning curve we are really enjoying the information and the structure that having a personal coach brings to actually getting things done.
Because we are enjoying the course so much we are happy to listen to the archived calls and our coaching calls over and over again. We haven’t used the resource line as much as we have only just learnt what an important role it plays but now we wont hesitate to call them particularly with for technical help.

    Hello,

I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the course. Keep plugging away and don’t get too bogged down with the technical issues. That will come as second nature after you’ve done it a couple hundred times.

    Hi,

I’m really not surprised as I know that sleep is a key ingredient in overall health and especially brain functioning. I’m trying to will my body to get more than the 5 or so hours rest I get every night.

Also, I was a bit shocked to learn this is graduate level coursework. I knew there was a lot to it and now I know why.

I think you are a super coach and can’t wait for my next session.
