When you want to get started on eBay there are things that you will need to do to insure that you will have the greatest amount of success. The first thing that you will want to do is create an account with eBay. To do so you will need to go to www.eBay.com and click on the register button. You will then have a form to fill out asking for name address and phone number. Towards the bottom of the page eBay will ask you to create a seller id. Don’t be afraid that the name you pick doesn’t reflect the product that you will be selling a year from today. The user ID is something that can be changed every 30 days.

Once you have your eBay account set up, the next step is to create you PayPal account.

This is the preferred merchant account used by eBay. You will want to sign up for a premier account. This account is free and will allow you to move money from your PayPal account to your bank account more frequently without risk of penalty. Keep in mind that you can only have one PayPal account per bank account. Now that you have a PayPal and an eBay account created the next step is to look around the house for things to sell.

eBay has a section on the site called the eBay Seller Central. This tool will help you break down your home and see what other people are selling from around their homes. Once you pick the room that you want to sell out of the eBay tool will allow you to look at completed listings.

Completed listings show you what happens after auctions close. Completed listings show items with Red and Green prices. Red price means that the item closed with out a sale and a Green price means it has sold. You want to eyeball the first couple of pages and if it looks like at least 40% of the products old then this is a good product to sell. Once you know this is a good products to sell there are 4 ways to market the product. 1) Make sure your price is not higher then the average selling price of the product. 2) With the title you use common keyword phrases 3) Make your description is detailed enough to were a person doesn’t have to ask for more questions about the product. 4) Make sure you products has images with it.

The last step is to list the item you have done the research on, remember that duplicating your competitors listings can be a great way to get an idea of how to create a listing.

Today we will discuss other auction sites you can work with outside of eBay. With some people eBay can be a very difficult medium to work with especially if you are working with a drop shipper. Why? Think about it, eBay is a bargain website so people go to eBay to try and get a product for the cheapest amount possible. With a drop shipper you have to mark up the price of the price above the wholesale price of the product. In some cases on eBay the product you want to sell the wholesale price is higher then what is it selling for on eBay. So I wanted to list so alternative places you can look into to sell your products if eBay doesn’t work.

Craigslist.com and Kijji.com
Craigslist and Kijji are classified ad sites which are completely free to use. Craigslist is an international classified ad service but mainly specializes in selling in the United States. Kijji is a classified ad service for Canada. They are designed as a local service, meaning you sell products in small geographical area. I recommend if it is a product that is difficult to ship to use a local classified ad service because of the shipping costs. The service will ask you to Post to Classified, and then you choose which type of service you are rendering, the most common with be the For Sale service. Then you will select the category in which the product falls into. Then you create the listing.

Amazon.com
Amazon, offer a free service that you can use to list products with them. I order to use Amazon’s free service is the product has to be something that already exists in Amazon’s data base, meaning if it is a home made product your probably will not be able to use their service, but if it is a drop ship product they the product probably already exists in Amazon’s database. There is no cost to list the product on Amazon however if the product sells then they take a percentage of commission out for the sale. To sell what the percentage is please go to: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/seller/registration/participationAgreement.html?itemID=200336920&ref=sys_faq_sfee To sell on Amazon, you login to your account, then go to Your Account, then on the right click on Sell your stuff. Amazon then will ask you to type in a product name and choose the category for the product. Once you have done this the next step to pick the exact match to your product then click on the button that says Sell Yours Here. The next page asks for a price of the product, the shipping is already included. The next page will prompt you to login to your Amazon account, if you don’t have one you can create one for free, if you do then it takes you to a page in which you can review your listing and then post the listing.

So here are some other alternatives that you can use if eBay for whatever reason with not be a good fit for you.

Objectives
- What is WordPress
- Requirements to use WordPress
- Installing WordPress in Bluehost and Hostgator
- Understanding plugins and themes
- How to create pages in WordPress

What is WordPress?
WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like today that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same
time.

Requirments to use WordPress
In order to work with WordPress you will need a webhost. The two webhost I recommend to work with are http://www.bluehost.com and http://www.hostgator.com.

Installing WordPress in Bluehost and Hostgator
You will need to login to your webhost cpanel. Once logged in go to the following section Software/Services and click on the Fantasico Deluxe icon. On the left under Blog Software, click on WordPress and click continue. Fill out the Application URL, if needed.
Note: This is the path where you want to install WordPress to. If you leave this field blank, WordPress will be installed to your main domain. If you use ‘blog’ in this field then WordPress would be installed to http://yourdomain.com/blog. Don’t leave this blank if you don’t want WordPress to be your main website, or if you already have content on the root of your account. Fill in the rest of the fields and options (the email, blog title, first and last name can be changed later through the WordPress Dashboard), then click Install Now! After WordPress is finished installing, you should see a Congratulations! message like the one below with a link to click “here”. Click that link and it will bring you to your newly installed WordPress blog!

Understanding Plugins and Themes
Plugins are small applications used to make a program better. To install a plugin you first login to your WordPress account then on the left hand side click on Plugins. On the plugins page click on add new. Now you have two options, 1 to do a search for the plugin or 2 upload a plugin from off of your computer. To install a theme on the left hand side click on Themes then Install a Theme. You have two options, 1 to do a search for the theme or 2 upload a theme from off of your computer.

How to create pages in Wordpess
Login to your WordPress account, then on the left hand side click on the pages link, then you click on add page, you can fill out the page name and description then to save the changes click on Publish.

3 main pages I recommend creating when creating your pages for your online business.

Home page: 3 questions you want to be able to answer when creating the home page. 1) What the site is about 2) What the site has to offer 3) Why someone will buy from your site. The homepage should be around 300 words long.

About Us page: Write a paragraph or two explaining why you created your website.

Policy page: Explain your shipping and return policies, you will get this information from your supplier.

Assignments
-	Get a webhost
-	Install Wordpess
-	Get the theme and plugins you want to use
-	Create your home, about us, policies

Today I want to point out some very important facts about eBay stores. Most people think that is it a must to start a store as soon as they start selling things on eBay, this is really far from the truth. You should really ask yourself some questions before choosing to pay $15.00 extra each month. Do you have a feedback of at least 15? Do you have any items that you are selling repeatedly and can have a constant inventory? Do you have 10 to 15 items that sell on a regular basis? If you can answer yes to these three questions it may be a very good time to start opening an eBay store.

eBay stores can really help you with saving money on fees. The biggest fee that you will see change is your listing fee. Each item is 0.02 plus gallery picture 0.01 = 0.03 cents 10 items with gallery pictures = 30 cents 100 items with gallery pictures = $3.00 1000 items with gallery pictures = $ 30.00.

One of the biggest reasons that people often times like to create an eBay store is because of the fact that it will start to rank on Google. eBay stores are the only type of listing this is ranked on eBay. Your eBay store will become it’s own website with a sub domain name of stores.ebay.com/yourstore.

There are 4 major ways I suggest marketing your eBay store.
1) Store description, you wan the store description to be around 25 words long, written in a sentence format and contain around 3 major keyword phrases.
2) Category names, you want make sure you are putting in major keyword phrases for the name and example is if you are selling camping supplies rather then saying “tents” as a category a better keyword phrase would be to say “Colman Camping Tents”
3) Custom Pages, you can create custom pages such as an about us page, contact us page, policy page in which you can add keyword phrases to.
4) SEO Keyword, you have an area in which you can add up to 7 keyword phrases for each of your pages. The storefront page is your home page and the keyword phrases relate to the overall store. Whereas the category pages you want the keyword phrases to relate to the specific category. You will want to have around 5% saturation of your keywords on the site.

Make sure to use buyer incentives to get people come back to your store on a regular basis.

Use Auction as a way to market the eBay store.

eBay guides is a great way to market to people outside of eBay. With eBay guides you are writing articles on eBay. These articles are consider dynamic (changing) content to Google and Google likes dynamic content meaning it is a very quick way to show up on the first page of Google.

eBay About me page is the only page in eBay in which you can create links outside of eBay. So if you want to market your site outside of eBay this is were you can do it.

eBay My World Page is like creating the profile of your pages.

These are all great reasons that you should open an eBay store but I would always suggest talking with your coach to make sure that you are ready.

Unfortunately there is a fair amount of preparing to start your online business. The three big things to prepare for are: 1. Setting up your business entity 2. Understanding and filling out affiliate applications, and 3. Setting up your website.

1. Setting up your business entity- There are many different types of business entities. Some examples are LLC’s, Sole proprietorships, and S-Corps. To get a good understanding of the different kinds, visit our Success Center then go to the Finance section of the success center then visit the Elibrary and Course Curriculum in that area.

-You can find out how to apply for an ein, and set up a business in your state by doing google searches for those two.

2. Affiliate Applications and Typical Questions To Answer- No two companies will have the same affiliate application to fill out. Below are some answers to use with some questions that get asked:

- How many unique visitors- if you are a new site your answer would be “0 to whatever”. You don’t have visitors yet

- What type of website- you could say, niche, ecommerce, blog, comparison shopping network.

- How do you drive traffic- PPC, SEO, Email marketing, Social networks such as facebook, twitter, blogging

-Web site url, and website name – URL: www.yourwebsite.com, and website name: Your Website (just typed out as so)

3. Website- To have a website set up, you will need 3 things. a) a domain name, a good domain name should be short and sweet, easy to remember, easy to spell, a .com, and relate to what your selling. b) A place to host your site. Hosting companies can be www.bluehost.com, and www.hostgator.com. These companies you can buy your name and hosting at the same place. c) a website builder. A good one to use is wordpress.
